Sleep in Roses
03:36
|
|||
Go a little west,
Haunt the drunks that stalked my garden,
So decadent dishevelled,
Sleep in roses while I push pencils,
Didn’t think I’d crawl,
A yard a year to this half-lit half-life,
Don’t get big ideas,
Just line up the formulas,
Haven’t you got eyes to see,
The limits of this simulacrum,
Haven’t you got fingers,
To count each of the years you’ve wasted,
Holding it down for so long,
Shed our skins like London planes like,
We’re coming apart piece by piece,
Strewn across the empty streets,
A spray of parakeets,
As likely as a summer snow,
Fluoresce the morning sky,
Acid green on low lit blue,
Dreaming of a well-cut suit,
A pile of light blue laundered shirts,
A train that spans the streets,
Between the cut-glass crystal trees,
Just wanna sleep in roses,
Just wanna leave the shore,
Just wanna sleep in roses,
Just can’t stay here anymore,

Fire from Water
04:44
|

Meet me where the river,
Turns and flees away from town,
In that fake forever summer,
Where the fig trees put their roots down,
Meet me in the tangle,
Of the tram tracks and canals,
By the bridge that plays a tunnel,
Suspended underground,
In migraine glare my eyes adjust,
To orange waters thick with rust,
I see a swarm of dragonflies,
Perhaps they love the iron oxide,
Carried by the valley north,
As streets yield to exurban sprawl,
We miss the arcs of amber flame,
Glass palaces all look the same,

Handful of Heaven
04:40
|
|||
Ascend the floors,
A handful of heaven,
Is your reward,
The city sprawls,
The peaks and the valleys,
To the Humber ports,
heaven gives,
Succour to your secrets,
When you’re all alone,
But heaven holds its own,
Yeah heaven holds its own,
Take the breath of the blue sky,
And draw it deep inside,
Steal the sun from sullen limbs,
And feel it on your skin,
The city speaks,
The crushing lows,
To the crystal peaks,
You scan for some,
Familiar phrases,
In a foreign tongue,
Heaven feeds,
The powders and the poisons,
That will get you home,
But heaven takes a toll,
Yeah heaven takes a toll,
Can you carve yourself a niche,
In marble plated streets,
Where the wildflowers grew,
Now concrete forests bloom,
If we fall between the cracks,
Is there a coming back,
Build a house of tin and timber,
Outlast the winter,

Wash of Light
03:46
|
|||
Brutal,
Puncture mark,
Raw red,
Washed vivid grey,
Trams glide by,
Central Library,
Like ghost ships,
I can hear the spooks,
Breathing down the wire,
A green gloved hand,
Rifling through our files,
Dreamt I saw it all at once,
All raw in four dimensions,
I couldn’t wait to see the end,
Beause I couldn’t stand the tension,
I saw each,
Glowing timeline,
Each radiant,
Wash of light,
Saw his and,
Ours were braided,
Each cotton,
Thread entwined,
I couldn't wait to see the end,
